Job Summary: 

                In this role, an individual will apply both technical knowledge and critical thinking skills to assist and learn from our Estimating team. While they are primarily responsible for supporting and assisting the Estimators and Sr Estimator’s, someone in this role can also expect to attend events, visit local job sites, and work with individuals within all departments of Curran to assure the completion and success of bids. They will assist in calculating cost of labor, materials, and assuring accurate information for our team to utilize throughout the bid process. This requires a keen attention to detail and understanding of the industry – including knowledge of paving and excavation. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

-          Perform takeoffs, solicit subs, build estimates, assist handoff of award, etc. 

-          Review and complete understanding of contract specifications and drawings 

-          Perform field measurements 

-          Work under tight deadlines to assure the estimating team has the necessary information to submit accurate and competitive bids 

-          Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documentation to identify cost factors 

-          Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather information (Greater Chicagoland Area - West Indiana, Crystal Lake, Oswego, Rockford, Dekalb, etc.) 

-          Must be able to travel locally by driving between job sites, offices, and meeting locations 

-          Ability to lift up to 25 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation 

-          Ability to walk and stand on uneven surfaces 

-          Ability to stand for extended periods of time 

-          Able to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate tight deadlines, events, site visits or client schedules 

-          Must be able to effectively communicate with owners, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers, trucking companies, engineering companies, GC’s, etc. 

Education & Experience: 

-          2-3+ years experience in the construction industry 

-          HCSS, Agtek, and Viewpoint knowledge is a plus 

-          Basic knowledge of grading or paving construction processes 

 
The intended pay range for this role is 60-70k with a 10% target bonus. Additionally, this role is eligible for a car stipend and other vehicle perks.
