Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager supports the growth of the company by identifying new market opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and assisting the sales team in securing work. This role conducts market research, participates in networking events, and develops innovative business solutions to generate revenue. Working closely with Sales and Marketing, the Business Development Associate manages CRM data, contributes to RFP preparation, and provides status reports that link pipeline activity to sales and margin goals. This position requires strong communication, time management, and collaboration skills, along with an understanding of business development techniques within the construction industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new prospects by researching markets and uncovering business opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships to support long-term partnerships and repeat business.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of sales contracts to support negotiations and project onboarding.
- Represent the company at networking functions, including conferences and industry events, to stay current on market trends.
- Develop and propose innovative business solutions and sales strategies to drive revenue growth.
- Prepare and deliver status reports to leadership and internal teams, highlighting key activities and outcomes.
- Analyze and monitor the sales pipeline to understand its impact on sales and margin goals.
- Collaborate with the sales team on RFPs and provide updates on project awards and bid status.
- Maintain and update the CRM system in partnership with the marketing department to ensure accurate, actionable data.
- Manage business expenses responsibly by retaining receipts, accurately coding and submitting expense reports, and ensuring company credit cards are used for authorized business purposes in accordance with company policy.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and upcoming infrastructure or private-sector projects to identify opportunities for Curran to bid or partner.
- Work with marketing to shape proposals, presentations, and capability statements that reflect Curran’s brand, values, and differentiators.
Required Skills & Abilities:

Education & Experience:
- Experience in the construction industry (marketing or sales-related experience a plus)
- Degree in business management, marketing, construction, or related field; or equivalent experience
- Experience or coursework working within a CRM or sales software preferred
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to travel to and tour active jobsites, including walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs or ladders, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods both at a desk and while driving or riding in a vehicle.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs of materials, equipment, or presentation items as needed.
- Work may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, or dust while on-site.
- Must be able to stand, bend, or reach as needed during on-site visits, trade shows, or events.
- Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required to attend events or meet project deadlines.
- Frequent use of computers, phones, and other office equipment in a typical business environment.
- Travel, including out-of-state, may be required.
- Position requires regular attendance at networking events, conferences, and client functions where alcohol may be served; the employee is expected to represent the company professionally at all times.

This role is targeting a range of $75-100k and is eligible for the company's incentive bonus program.
