Quality Assurance and Editorial Specialist - Remote

Summary of Responsibilities
- Review investigation reports, hearing decisions, appeal decisions prior to their submission to the Director of Resolution Services and provide substantive input to the investigator, hearing officer, and appellate officer on the writing and quality of the report including:
- Report is free of grammatical and typographical errors;
- Evidence is clearly stated and conveyed;
- A thorough and complete analysis has been conducted on each allegation and comports with applicable client policy;
- Findings and determinations are clearly and logically supported by the evidence;
- The report conforms with the client’s template, policy, and procedures or, when client has no template, conforms with GRS template;
- The report is drafted in compliance with the GRS style guide, tone, consistency, and clarity.
- Work directly with investigators, hearing officers and other decision-makers in writing analyses and findings, evidence evaluation, credibility and reliability determinations related to investigations and hearings.
- Offer suggestions to the Director of Resolution Services on potential training topics for investigators, hearing officers and other decision-makers.
- Contribute guidance regarding revisions to GRS templates and guidance regarding report writing and related topics, as needed.
- Assist the Director of Resolutions in other editorial tasks, as needed.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellence in editing, legal writing, and editing the work of civil rights investigators, and have experience as one or more of the following: a civil rights investigator, legal writing instructor, writing tutor, judicial clerk, or equivalent.

- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Extreme attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- J.D. or equivalent
- Exceptional understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and vocabulary
- Working knowledge of AP style
- Ability to ensure that reports are clear, logically structured, and in keeping with GRS style requirements
- Ability to both make text changes and provide writing and analytical guidance and suggestions in a constructive manner
- Ability to educate writers as part of the editing and proofreading processes
- Ability to work both independently and in a group setting
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities and deliverables simultaneously while adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Salary
GRS has different base pay ranges for different locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistent with different geographic markets. Compensation offered will depend on various factors in addition to location of primary residence, such as job level, complexity and responsibility required by the role, knowledge, job duties and requirements, relevant experience, and skills.
Pay Ranges for Applicants in CA, CO, and WA
The pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City is $95,000 - $130,000. For those who are elsewhere in California, the range is $65,000 - $105,000. For those based in Colorado, the range is $65,000 – 105,000. For those based in Washington State, the range is $65,000 - $130,000. As noted above, all of these pay ranges depend upon specific location, knowledge, relevant experience, background, and skills
