Summary of Responsibilities

Under the direction of the ADA/504 Practice Manager or their designee:
  • Act as an institution’s ADA and/or 504 Coordinator or Deputy Coordinator for campus offices, or as directed by the ADA/504 Practice Manager. Assigned duties may include:
    •  Assume responsibility and oversight of an institution’s accommodations services in accordance with the assigned role, and an institution’s policies and procedures
    • Respond to all requests for accommodation in accordance with an institution’s policies and procedures
    •  Draft essential correspondence related to processing of accommodation requests
    •  Conduct and document interactive meetings
    •  Develop and deliver trainings related to ADA and/or 504 obligations
    • Assist clients in improving the overall functioning of their ADA and/or 504 departments
    • Serve as an institution’s subject matter expert on compliance and best practices related to ADA and 504
    • Stay abreast of regulations and statutes relating to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, sexual misconduct, and gender-based violence including, but not limited to, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA, and related state and/or federal laws, as well as adjacent regulations and guidance specific to accessibility and digital access
    • Properly maintain all client data according to each client’s expectations and standards while working to improve client processes, when assigned
    •  Follow policies or procedures as set forth by client institutions, including timelines
  • Adhere to Grand River Solutions standards and practices for ADA and 504 Coordinators and Deputy Coordinators.
  •  Provide guidance to more junior GRS staff assisting with the response and oversight processes for clients’ ADA and/or 504 offices
  • Assist clients with drafting and revising policies, procedures, and templates while ensuring that all documents reflect current federal requirements, state law requirements, and best practices
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned
  • Occasional travel may be required

Key Accountabilities 
  •  Work with confidential and highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality in compliance with client school policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations
  • Maintain an appropriate professional demeanor at all times
  • Strong understanding of ADA and Section 504 regulations, as well as the intersecting obligations of both statutes with Title IX and EEO laws and practices, and WCAG and U.S. Access Board/FHA standards
  •  Ability to serve at one or more institutions at the same time using strong time management skills
  •  Exceptional writing skills including demonstrated skills in drafting communications
  • Ability to effectively communicate by phone, email, and in-person with parties, witnesses, client representatives, and colleagues
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and grasp complex issues rapidly and accurately
  • Ability to work in and foster a diverse and inclusive environment working directly with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  •  Ability to establish rapport and work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, students, and partner organizations

  • Strong ability to use Microsoft Word, Google Mail, Google Docs, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Adobe, and similar office software that may be client specific
  • Able to easily use at least one of the following campus database case management systems, including entering data and running reports, or equivalent; Maxient, iSight, Advocate.

Required Qualifications
  • Three or more years of demonstrated experience serving as an ADA and/or 504 Coordinator
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, and to bring about consensus among groups possessing diverse opinions
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in working with a wide range of policies in the higher education or K-12 environment
  •  Experience conducting individual assessments leading to accommodations
  •  Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize projects, establish and/or maintain documentation and recordkeeping standards consistent with best practices, and manage multiple/competing deadlines and priorities
  •  Strong mediation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize projects for completion in a timely manner
  • Training in ADA and/or 504
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and statutes relating to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the ADA.
  •  Experience working with confidential and highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality in compliance with client school policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds
  • Experience in conflict management and as a team or department supervisor, or equivalent
  •  Bachelor's degree in related area and /or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree, or equivalent
  • Two years of supervisory or management experience
  •  Experience developing and delivering training
Salary
GRS has different base pay ranges for different locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistent with different geographic markets. Compensation offered will depend on various factors in addition to location of primary residence, such as job level, complexity and responsibility required by the role, knowledge, job duties and requirements, relevant experience, and skills.

Pay Ranges for Applicants in CA, CO, and WA
The pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City is $95,000 - $130,000. For those who are elsewhere in California, the range is $65,000 - $105,000. For those based in Colorado, the range is $65,000 – 105,000. For those based in Washington State, the range is $65,000 - $130,000. As noted above, all of these pay ranges depend upon specific location, knowledge, relevant experience, background, and skills
