Welder/Assembler - on site - University Park, IL

  • Create welds and assemblies with the use of blueprints and other visual aids
  • Assemble and MIG weld turn table winches per shop orders, work instructions, and drawings
  • Assemble and weld brake chains with TIG or Heat Induction welding according to shop orders, work instructions, and drawings.
  • Pull parts from inventory accordingly.
  • Inspect and assemble parts per drawing and work instructions.
  • Place finished products in correct inventory locations.
  • Operate fork trucks and stand up fork lifts.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop.
  • Perform job duties following proper safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to use foot controls to operate equipment
  • Ability to bend and twist at waist.
  • Use hands to assemble parts and use hand tools, grinders, inspection gauges and calipers
  • Vision sufficient to assemble parts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed boots, face shield etc.) as needed
  • Shop environment including assembly, welding, overhead cranes and fork trucks.
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Dusty, smoky, damp, dark and welding fumes
  • Noisy manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Welding Certification (Mig and Tig)
  • Reading sufficient to be able to use and create required instructions and paperwork
  • Certification to operate fork lift and standup fork lift
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use hand tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with team members and management.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to accurately count parts for inventory purposes
  • Travel by ground, rail and air
