 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Provide strong leadership direction for recruitment advertising, recruiting and staffing, interviewing and hiring, training of managers in these functions
  • Provides guidance to supervisors and employees on problems originating from individual work situations or work environment; advises and assist employees, upon request, to resolve problems; counsel’s management and employees on concerns and complaints; takes appropriate steps to see that they are resolved or channeled to management, if necessary
  • Direct the training and development of supervisors, managers at all levels, i.e.: succession planning, performance appraisal, evaluation of performance appraisal for employees
  • Direct the preparation and maintenance of any Human Resources reports that are necessary to carry out the HR function of the department
  • Responsible for the day-to-day employee relations that jeopardize the achievement of Holland policies and procedures, state, and federal laws
  • Provide leadership and direction to the interpretation and enforcement of wage and hour, payroll policies, opinion surveys, and employee referrals
  • Provide leadership and direction to all Holland division with developing and implementing turnover game plans
  • Conducts and documents employee relations investigations for business areas
  • Effectively recruit for assigned divisions, employee relations counseling, and exit interviewing
  • Facilitate leadership development program(s)
  • Assist with meeting the monthly random drug testing requirements
  • All other duties as assigned  
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  •  Standing, walking, bending, and sitting for extended periods are required to perform basic office functions
  • May need to climb stairs or ladders
  • Walk on uneven ground or ballast
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds is regularly required for filing and other record keeping duties
  • Vision must be sufficient for inputting data into a computer; Keyboarding skills that reduce the risk of carpal tunnel and other office related injuries
  • Required to wear proper PPE defined by each location according to their needs
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  •  May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dusty environments, welding fumes and coal dust
  • General office/home environment
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
QUALIFICATIONS:
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management required. (other educational backgrounds will be considered); HR Certification (SHRM, HRCI) a plus
  • A minimum of five years experience in Human Resources
  • Good verbal and written skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information
  • Available outside of normal working hours for consultation
  • A minimum of one year experience with Talent Acquisition and managing the applicant tracking system
  • Demonstrates and in-depth knowledge of Human Resources
  • Requires leadership, organizational, supervisory, and administrative abilities
  • Good organizational and supervisory skills to supervise diverse operations with differing needs and opportunities
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and US Passport
  • Ability to meet the qualifications outlined in the Holland Fleet Policy
  • Able to complete all pre-employment testing requirements
  • Able to maintain E-Rail certification
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
