ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Job Duties Include but are not limited to: 
 
  • Maintain high levels of manufacturing and product quality, identify areas for improvement, determine staff requirements, design new processes, as well as ensure cost-efficiency and conformance to regulatory, production, and safety standards.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for shop troubleshooting, parts/product inspection, and nonconformances. 
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities.
  • Serve as a resource for Lean/Continuous Improvement projects such as the development of Standard Work, Kanban, Kaizen, and other Lean tools.
  • Assess and modify processes for product measurement, inspection, and testing activities to ensure quality control and reliability.
  • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization, resulting in accurate standard costs.
  • Recommend methods for improving the utilization of personnel, materials, and utilities.
  • Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
  •  Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Willingness to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots) as required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
 
  • Office/cubicle environment.
  • Shop environment including welding, overhead cranes, and fork trucks.
  • Field on-track environment involving all weather conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • BSME or Equivalent preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience in structural, mechanical, and hydraulic areas of mobile equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean production concepts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be committed to customer service.
  • Able to work to demanding deadlines.
  • Work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to facilitate and make decisions.
  • Work with a sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, Lean practices, Six Sigma, and Value Engineering.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical systems designer.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and Passport and abide by our Corporate Fleet Policy
  • Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment testing required by Holland, L.P.
