Production Manager - University Park, IL

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Supervise and develop production and warehouse personnel; hire and fire, administers performance reviews, and disciplinary actions, etc…
  • Prepare production schedules based on sales forecast including identifying part availability, production capacity, and shipping constraints
  • Release shop orders based on production scheduling requirements
  • Assure all first articles are inspected by qualified personnel
  • Manage and own the shop department cost budget and report out variances to plan and forecast updates
  • Ensure equipment and product fixtures are maintained and safe
  • Ensure all Gemba boards are up to date 
  • Ensure inventory is safeguarded and accurate; work with accounting regarding performing timely cycle counts and year end physical inventory
  • Work with purchasing in establishing safety stock requirements
  • Establish, maintain and review standard cost rates for all in house product line
  • Prepare monthly performance reports including shop labor variance, bowler report
  • Ensure all practices and products meet quality standards
  • Ensure all shipping and receiving activities meet timing requirements & quality requirements
  • Other duties as assigned  
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Standing, walking, bending and sitting for extended periods are required to perform basic office functions
  •  Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly required for photocopying, filing and other record-keeping duties
  • Vision must be sufficient for inputting data into a computer
  • Keyboarding skills that reduce the risk of carpal tunnel and other office related injuries
  • Willingness to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed boots, etc…)
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
 
  • Office/shop environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
QUALIFICATIONS:
  •  Associates or technical degree from an accredited college in a related field such as industrial or resources management preferential but not necessary
  •  7+ years of production & shop supervisory management experience
  • Railroad or similar industry experience required
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  •  Ability to work in team environment
  • Ability to maintain a valid Driver’s License and abide by our Corporate Fleet Policy
  • Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment testing required by Holland, L.P.
